OUR ACTIVISM IS PAYING OFF
In the past years we have been very politically active. We have written letters to U.S. Senators and Congressmen/women, day in day out. We have shamed them. We have exposed them.We have reminded them that this Country, the USA, is a Republic and not a Monarchy or Dictatorship and that the civil/political power rests in the Will of the American People and not in the legislators. We just say it the way it is and we will continue doing so because we're right and they're wrong. Well this activism combined by other done by other Active Political Activists has produced some results in shaking Congress into doing something. Congressman Charles Rangell of N.Y. has twice introduced a Bill for the restoration of all the Civil Rights for people who have been convicted of non-violent Federal Crimes. It's been reintroduced recently and hopefully that someday we will get some of these infamous Federal Laws off of the books. Basically the Bill, called Second Chance, which has many sponsors, says that after one is discharged from prison or probation and pays all the fines he or she can petion a Federal Court to have the conviction totally erased from the FBI criminal database. This applies also to people who have been convicted a long time ago However it only covers non-violent Federal Crimes. For the moment it's a biginning, in the future we will ask for a determination of what a violent crime may or not really be violent at all considering all the circumstances and the degree of violence, which may have been minimal with no permanent consequences and may have been a one-time act. We urge all of you to e-mail or write to as many U.S. Senators and Congressmen/women as possible and ask them to please bring this Bill to a vote and pass it so millions of our Brothers and Sisters can can join mainstream society, find their desidered professional occupations and pursue the American Dream. The website for the U.S. Senate is: www.senate.gov. the House of Representatives is: house of representatives.gov or look under U.S. Congress and check all the names of the Congressmen/women. and keep yourselves busy doing your part. If interested in reading the entire Bill go to the Website of U.S. Representatives or U.S. Congress or better yet check the website of Congressman Charles Rangell and once there see pending legislations. You will see the Second Chance Act.
